Ah, knees... how you spurn me!

Yesterday I went back to the Y. Two days in a row folks. Two Day! Those zombies are in for a rude awakening. I decided I wanted to try and get an hour of working out in yesterday instead of the 30 minutes from the day prior. So I started with walking on the treadmill. I walked on average about a 2 for 30 minutes. Sometimes faster and sometimes slower. Then I got on the elliptical.

My knees were having none of it. While I had been walking on the treadmill, me knees just started HURTING. My knees never hurt on the elliptical, but evidently, they were mad at me for making them take the treadmill. So I did a total of 40 minutes instead.

I am fearing my dreams of running may be coming to an end because of the knees. At least I am making excellent progress on the elliptical and burning twice as many calories. I can't wait to be able to say for sure how many calories I am burning. I am so excited I am giddy in my chair. Another huge thank you to Like a fat kid loves cake, and Fatgirlvsworld for the Bodybugg. I am stalking my po box. :)

Anyway, Enjoy the blog hop today!

Thanks for coming past my blog. Lovely to meet you and hear about your cereal! You will totally love Michael Bollan's book. It is just so sensible!

I have done the C25K program and think it is awesome. Have entered my first 9k run in September. Have never run 9ks but am feeling optimistic! Am just going to flick through your C25K entries to see how you are going with it!

Congrats again for winning the bodybugg!! Running is super hard on the knees. There are days when mine curse me like a sailor. However, being down almost 90lbs has made it easier on them. I remind them of that from time to time!!

I'm in the process of doing the C25k and let's just say my knees don't like me. I find that icing them for a few minutes afterwards helps a bit. I hope that once my weight comes off they get better! Please pop by for a visit if you have any advice for a newbie. ;)
Congrats on the Bodybugg win - woot!

Hi
I'm a new follower. I just found your blog today. I'm also on the fat to fit list, but haven't been too faithful to it lately.
I was wondering what kind of problems you have with your knees. i have knee issues too. I just finish a round of orthovisc treatment for my L knee. I also do cardio but can't actually run.
visit me sometime.

MultipleMom - a 9k WOW! I can't even imagine that yet. I'll get there though! Keep at it! Oh! And I am picking that book up at the library today!

Brigitte - Thank you so much! I have almost had to give the running up because it hurts. But I am hoping as the weight starts to come off that it will get easier. It's really a dream of mine to become a runner.

Raegun - If I wasn't running at the Y where I don't really have access to ice I would love to try that. I think I might just have to take it easy till another 10 lbs or so comes off and then give it another go. I can do it, but I am having a heck of a hard time making it past the week 2 training without pain that lays me up the next day.

Sherri - Welcome to the blog! Watch out for the Zombies. My issues wit my knees consists of aching and stiffness when I am running. If I push it too hard while actually running my knee will actually buckle on me. It's kind of scary when that happens. I don't let it get that out of hand. But I realized I try and overcompensate for my knee hurting and end up hurting my ankles or feet. So I just need to stop when it acts up.

Icing is good; even if you can't ice until you get home (which is when I do it)! It will still help calm down the knee pain.

There is nothing wrong with walking. I did it for a really long time. I only started running once I thought my back and knees could take it. Not that they are always happy with me :P

Oh I am going o try that next time then! It will be really awesome if that ends up helping. :) Then I could run a little more often and not worry about if I have anything planned for the next day.
